Critical DH explores the intersections between activism, social justice, and the Digital Humanities in the vein of Paulo Freire and bell hooks. This event, co-sponsored with the Claremont Colleges Library Dean’s Action Committee on Diversity & Inclusivity, celebrates the work of Southern California scholars who are using DH tools and methods to advance social justice with their students. It also offers ideas for those who are interested in engaging in similar work.
Our keynote speakers, Patty Ahn, Assistant Professor of Communication at UC San Diego and Bergis Jules, University & Political Papers Archivist at UC Riverside, will present on courses that focus on social media responses to the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency and the Doc Now project, respectively.
Following a break for lunch, the afternoon session will be an Omeka Workshop from 1:45-3:00.
